Simple Ways To Set Goals

Though figuring out which goals one should set is sometimes a bit hard, getting in motion is actually fairly easy. An easy way to begin is to first create a list of everything you would like to do in life.

The sky is the limit, and you can write down anything. The fact that some goals are not as easily reachable is secondary, and you should write them down anyway.

This step will get you closer to achieving your goals, since many times we put dreams away simply because we are afraid we won’t be able to make them come true. However you would be surprised at how many things you thought were impossible, were actually possible if you just took the time, and made the effort to go after them.

Once you have created your wish list you should now choose 5 goals that you want to start working on immediately. Of course, you can choose any type of wish, but it is always a great idea to pick one goal for each area of life. You could, for example, select one personal goal, one spiritual goal, one health-related goal, one financial goal, and even a romantic goal. Although do what you feel is best, so if you want 3 financial goals and 2 health goals that would be ok. Just make sure you don’t focus all your effort on one area, since that would only accomplish getting your life out of balance.

Whilst it may be tempting to choose more than 5 goals, 5 is a good number to begin with as it allows you to focus your mind on a few specific goals, and devote more of your energy to accomplishing them. If you choose too many goals to begin with, you may feel overwhelmed and give up before you even begin.

Once you master the concept of setting goals, you can rest assured that you will be able to add more in the near future. Once you reach that stage, you can set as many goals as you want.

Once you have selected five, you need to write them down again in goal format. This means that you should write your goals in a positive light and in the present tense. Use terms such as I have and I am.

This step is extremely important, because it sets in the mind the things you should have, not those you merely want to have. So writing I Will or I will have should be avoided.

Now that you have your goals written in goal format look at them daily, and rewrite your goals in the morning and night to burn them into your mind. If you increase your focus, your desire to accomplish will grow.
